Heading out to Greece...

Back in our yachting days, we envisaged chartering a 50 footer and sailing ourselves around the Greek Islands. The potential difficulties made us think of completing that adventure as part of a flotilla, but we still never got around to it. Now, too old to contemplate duo sailing, we are going to approximate the Greek Island bucket list objective by joining a short expedition on the Sea Cloud, a luxury sailing yacht chartered (we think) by Lindblad / National Geographic. The Sea Cloud has 30 cabins and holds up to 60 passengers.

Heroic image of the Sea Cloud, taken from Lindblad / National Geographic website, with thanks and anticipation!

To get there, we will be flying Emirates to Athens later this week. We'll spend time in Athens, of course, and apart from the Sea Cloud, we will also take a ferry to two islands to spend the best part of a week on each in what we hope will be very comfortable accommodation. We'll update this blog when possible with our photographs and experiences.

The Acropolis of Athens as seen from Mount Lycabettus The wooded Hill of the Nymphs is half-visible on its right, and Philopappos Hill on the left, immediately behind. The Philopappos Monument is seen here where, in the distant background, the coast of Peloponnese meets the waters of the Saronic Gulf. By George E.
